CTIF Executive Committee usually meets physically twice per year. The spring in person meeting this year was located to Brussels.
The meeting focused on reviewing ongoing activities, the strategic direction of the organization, and key challenges at both the European and global levels. Special attention was also given to preparations for the 2025 Delegates Assembly.
The meeting began with the approval of the minutes from the last online session. This was followed by a discussion on the current “world situation,” highlighting issues and challenges that impact the organization's work.
A key topic was the preparation of the 2025 Delegates Assembly. Members worked on content development and discussed the organizational aspects of the event. They also reviewed existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and explored future forms of cooperation. Global challenges such as climate change and the growing need for emergency preparedness were discussed, particularly in the context of the "One Billion Readiness" initiative as a follow-up to COP28.
Further activities related to the World Fire Congress, the ESF112 project, and the preparation of promotional materials were addressed. Members were also introduced to the organization's system for awards and medals.
The results of the communications questionnaire were presented, and concrete action steps were proposed to improve both internal and external communication.
The committee also discussed updating the approach to Associate Members. The proposal to organize webinars aimed at supporting and engaging Associate Members was well received.
Additionally, the opportunity to participate in the EU mechanism for funding civil protection and crisis response was examined, including completing the relevant EU survey.
The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of past work, the current financial situation, and the strategic orientation of the organization. The committee outlined clear directions for future work, with a focus on effective management, active member engagement, and strengthening the organization's international roles.
The first day of this two day meeting was spent visiting the European Parliament and a discussion about civil protection in Europe with Member of Parliament Grégory Alione, France.
The physical meeting of the Executive Committee that is separate from Delegates Assembly has in recent years been held in the home city of the CTIF Treasurer. As Tom Van Esbroeck, Belgium, took over in 2025 as treasurer after Marc Mamer, Luxembourg, the spring meeting 2025 was held in Brussels.
The Executive Committee meets virtually once to twice per month during the year.
