A four-alarm fire erupted at a hobby store in Onset, Massachusetts, earlier this month, rapidly spreading to two adjacent businesses and resulting in injuries to a firefighter.

The blaze was attributed to lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used in many everyday devices. Onset Fire Chief Jeffrey R. Osswald emphasized the importance of battery safety, noting the significant damage and toxic smoke produced by such incidents.

Lithium-ion battery fires have been a growing concern due to their intensity and the challenges they pose to firefighting efforts. In a similar incident, a truck carrying lithium-ion batteries overturned on the 47 Freeway in San Pedro, California, leading to explosions and fires.
