CTIF Commission Rescue and Fire Fighting on Airports

  

The CTIF commission Rescue and Fire Fighting on Airports was founded in order to:

  • meet in major European airports to visit the airport fire brigade, get an overview of the infrastructure and exchange their experiences to find a harmonisation for all airport fire brigades.
  • discuss technical items such as training methods, minimal requests for the number of operational personnel or hand signals.
  • elaborate proposals for changing the Standards and Recommendations (Annex 14) of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
  • work in close co-operation with the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC).

Who presides over the commission? Veli-Matti SääSKILAHTI from Finland is the current president of the CTIF commission Rescue and Fire Fighting on Airports.

Who are the commission’s member countries?
Germany, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Austria.
Participation in commission meetings is open to all staff of airports and community fire brigades, airport authorities, civil aviation authorities, industries and anyone with a high interest in rescue and fire fighting at airports. Commission members do participate in meetings on a voluntary basis and can get support from their CTIF National Committee to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
