CTIF President Walter Egger (Switzerland) and CTIF General Secretary Christophe Mignot (France) were both unanimously re-elected for a four-year mandate by the CTIF Delegates. Under their leadership and thanks to the involvement of the whole CTIF Executive Committee over the past four years:
- CTIF’s expertise and networking capacity in fire and rescue issues is increasingly recognised. A recent example: the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) asked CTIF to send a team of experts to analyze the current state-of-the-art as regards fire and rescue services in Kosovo.
- The number of member countries was increased by 25% and the number of associate members has been nearly multiplied by three. This year, associate members were also offered the opportunity to organise an exhibition alongside the Assembly to present their services to the participants.
- A Permanent Office was set up in Berlin, Germany, for the first time ever in the history of CTIF, enabling the international organisation of fire and rescue services to work even more efficiently.
- The brand new CTIF website www.ctif.org has been turned into a real international information and exchange platform for fire fighters, with a number of visitors now three times higher than a year ago.
- The CTIF fire and rescue dictionary has been extended to Russian and is now available in 4 languages (English, German, French and Russian).
- Closer contacts have been made with countries such as Japan and South Korea and a delegation of the United Arab Emirates attended the CTIF Delegates Assembly and Symposium this year.
